A new tool is now available for anyone involved in building charging infrastructure. NEN has opened a register listing private charging points that, according to their manufacturers and importers, meet the requirements of NTA 8043. This creates a central overview where so-called smart charging functionality can be easily recognised.
Why a register?
The number of charging points at homes and commercial buildings is growing rapidly. Not every charging point, however, is able to intelligently balance supply and demand on the electricity grid. NTA 8043 describes the requirements a charging point must meet in order to steer charging sessions flexibly, for example based on available grid capacity or energy tariffs.
By bringing these products together in a clear overview, it becomes easier for the market to see which models offer these capabilities. Manufacturers and importers register their devices themselves, after which they appear in the list.
What does this mean for the construction and installation sector?
For installers, the register is a practical instrument. During new construction and renovation, they can more easily check whether a preferred charging point supports the required functionality, without first having to compare extensive specifications. That saves time when advising clients.
